2018 Tour de Gravel

Four stages, four sets of challenges.

Duncan Mackenzie's dream turned into reality on Saturday when a great bunch of riders approached the start line in Blenheim for the inaugural Tour de Gravel

The course - from tight winding gravel on Taylor Pass, and Waterfall Road, to the slippery White Road through Yealands Estate, culminated in a final challenge over the gravel and seal of Redwood Pass.

Almost as big a challenge as the riding was the selection of bike, with the relative benefits of drop bars, flat bars, and single speed showing in the closely competitive stage times. Andrew Bidwell was the overall winner, first home in all four stages on his drop bar bike, with Joshua Aldridge second overall on a Flat Bar bike and achieving fastest time on stage two.
