Sparkling clear skies ...

...  belied the amount of sticky mud as over a thousand Secondary School pupils took on the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge in Helensville for NCEA credits.

It appeared as if Ryan Danby from Thames High School was on track to beat Curtis Shuker's record for year 12 and 13 boys set in 2017. It was not to be, with Ryan finishing in 27:49, just 20 seconds off the record time. The other 6km records - all from 2017 - tumbled. Oscar Oliver-Chamber's 30:15 took nearly 3 minutes of Joshua Pracey's 33:02 record for year 9, 10, and 11 boys; Lucy Sizer's 36:41 took nearly 4 minutes of Anna Faulkner's 40:38 for year 9, 10, and 11 girls; and Sheree Lange's 33"43 also took nearly 4 minutes of the year 12 & 13 girls record of 37:42 set in 2017 by Georgia Holden.
